Information:
An unusual and probably one-of-a-kind satirical poem with some skilled cartoons, presumably about a legendary World War I brigade, the "Grand Old Gloucester Brags", known for their excesses. From the poem: "Twas no easy thing to get into their ranks, so exacting the were about size; / The'yd a hard and fast rule, which I'm bound to admit, was rather more curious than wise./ They cared not a rap what your height might be, But in this they were stric, I can tell 'ee;- / They'd say to you "No" unless you could show That you measured six feet round the waist-band."....."The Brags were the pride of the country for miles Well beloved by all Gloucestershire wenches: T'was assumed that because they were good trenchermen They'd be sure to be brave in the trenches." The men get drunk just before battle and wind up with special stripes on the back of their pants as a result---decorations "front" and "back"
Appears to be written in pen by anonymous author, perhaps with initials "FEC", since the monogram and the word "Skittles" appears on the front cover. (See photos below).
As a one of a kind period memorabilia, this is impossible to value---no copies or references have been found on the web---so information and serious offers by collectors will be welcome.
