    History of Tennessee
    originally published by Goodspeed Publishing Co., and other sources. The 62-page booklet is printed on quality paper with the print enlarged for easier reading. A vinyl sheet has been added to protect the front cover.
    The first 14 pages of the booklet are devoted to the history of the county. Included are a physical description of the county, names of settlers who came before 1818; later settlers; Davy Crockett, a noted hunter and justice in the county; early businesses; creation of the county; justices; first courthouse; jails - one open-air, one with dungeons--; the poor farm; the Columbia, Lawrenceburg and Florence Railroad; first juries; court officials; early court cases; county court clerks, masonic lodge, first newspaper, soldiers in the Mexican War; Civil War -- the Third Tennessee, reorganized as the 32nd Tennessee (Confederate Army); Schools and Churches, etc. Lawrenceburg is the county seat. Other communities mentioned include West Point (formerly Blountsville), Henryville, Loretto, and St. Joseph.
    Besides the names mentioned in the first part of the booklet, there are biographies of many county residents of yesteryear. Most are fairly lengthy, and often include ancestors, previous residences, children, in-laws, affiliations, war records, and business activities.
