Up for consideration is a fantastic copy of the 20th Century Fortune Teller by Madame Carlotta de Barsy. The reader is instructed to ask a question and then consult the “Magic Circles” and follow several other directions in order to achieve the answer. The book was written primarily for women, but men can consult it too,taking care to change the wording of the questions for their sex and position. At the end of the book is a supplement on Arothimomancy or the revelation of the future by means of numbers. I suppose it’s similar to numerology. The best thing about this book is the cover: the black stamped witch on her broomstick on vibrant red cloth. It would make a wonderful addition to a fortune telling or Halloween collection as it looks great on display. It’s in very good condition with age toning of the pages, but they are clean and the binding is tight.
