Description
This is a stunning, magnificent flagon or vase or very tall cup by the renowned Norwegian designer, David Andersen of Oslo, Norway. It is made of 830S silver. It stands 12 inches tall and the top is 3 3/8 inches in diameter. It is done in an Art Nouveau style with a floral motif 2 1/2 inch band around the entire circumference. flo The floral motif appears to be sunflowers or asters. The body of this piece (from the floral band to the top of the base) has a light golden cast to it. This portion of the vase/cup/flagon has been very lightly washed in gold to give it this shading. The hallmark shows David Andersen, 830S, the mark for Andersen, 1508 which I believe is a pattern or product number, and 4 which I think refers to the the size of the base. The base is 4 inches in diameter. The mark used for Andersen is the mark that was used from 1888 to 1925. I estimate this piece to be ca. 1900 to 1910 or so. This is an elegant item and in excellent condition. There is one very small spot where there is a mar in the finish. Please see pictures. Weight is 13.5 oz. or 382 grams. Ship to US only by USPS. International ship by Ebay Global Shipping.
