Description
This is a beautiful commemorative bowl in an Art Nouveau style by the famed Norwegian designer, David Andersen. The hallmark shows 830S and the mark for Andersen that he used from 1888 to 1925. The bowl commemorates Arendals Soforsikringsselskab, which translates Arendals Insurance Company. This company offered maritime insurance and was formed in 1860. The bowl has the dates of 1860 and 1920 embossed in the center. Also embossed in the center is, what I assume, the logo of the company which is a sailing ship on the sea superimposed over 2 crossed anchors. Please see pictures. The rim of the bowl measures 3 1/8 inches in diameter. This is a historical, antique piece and by the dates was made in 1920. The outside border of the bowl is done in a flower/scroll motif. There is one small ding in the side of the bowl - again see pictures. This is in excellent condition for its age and a lovely piece of history as well. Ship to US only by USPS. International ship by Ebay Global Shipping.
