"This is my inadequate effort to express my gratitude and admiration for your new  book and for Playset Magazine.  Both are absolutely superb and both exceeded the impossibly high expectations your previous books, DVDs, and magazine issues created.
"Like a child, I first went through your new Alamo book admiring your outstanding photographs--they blew me away.  Then I savored the text--very clear, engaging, and movingly written; a true tribute to the Alamo heroes and to the folks who brought us the related movies and playsets.  I was grateful for your description of the multiple Alamo movies; I was unaware of several of them.  Similarly, your in-depth coverage of the many Marx Alamo playsets is a real boon to the collecting community.
    Nov 25th :
I have all of your books, but this one (Battlegrounds) is by far the BEST ONE you have done.  The information and the photo are great, and the subject has now been covered perfectly.  This is my main interest in Marx collecting, so I must say, that this book is a must have for anyone interested in the WWII era of Marx playsets.
Congratulations on a supreme effort on your part for finally putting all this in a well documented and highly informative book.
    Ron Angleton
"Your thorough coverage of the various Marx Alamo playsets, I especially appreciated and was intrigued by the related topics you provided: your Fess Parker interview; the Davy Crockett merchandise (I did have, and wear, a non-licensed  Davy Crockett coonskin cap in childhood); the Alamo sets and figures made by makers in addition to Marx; and the Alamo dioramas produced by hobbyists.  The pictures and descriptive information you provided on the impressive displays our fellow collectors have crafted was impressive, inspiring, and intimidating (but in the best of ways).
Similarly, your 100th issue of Playset Magazine was inspired and inspiring.  Like other collectors and readers, I was wondering how you would cap off 100 issues of fun and education.  Your choice to go with multiple lists from leading collectors and dealers was perfect.  I also really appreciated your article on "The Age Thing" which addressed a topic many of us silently wonder about, while the photo essay on "The Louis Marx of Mexico" answered a lot of questions, and created a few new ones (like where can I find the plastic Ft. Apache cabin?).
Anyway, highest kudos to you for continuing to amaze your followers and subscribers.
