    First published in 1855, this is a scarce issue of what was the definitive history and study of Ancient Greece by Sir William Smith (1813–1893), the renowned English lexicographer who became well known for his advances in the history and teaching of Greek history
    and the Greek language.
    Bound in black leather spine over black pebbled boards, with gilt-stamped titles and embossed decorations to the spine
    . Contents a bit toned. Small contemporary ink price to the front pastedown. The leading edge of the text black has a small stain. The boards are somewhat worn.
    Very scarce!
