    Description

    THE WHITE PROBLEM IN AMERICA
This highly controversial special issue of Ebony magazine, published in August of 1965, explores issues of racism from a variety of angles. The text includes articles by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Carl T. Rowan, Louis E. Lomax, Whitney M. Young, Jr., Dr. Kenneth B. Clark, and the title piece by Lerone Bennet. James Baldwin wrote his famous essay "The White Man's Guilt" specifically for this issue.
This issue was published the following year in book form. Both hardcover and paperback copies of the book are rare collector's items. The original magazine is even more scarce: at present this appears to be the only copy available online.
The magazine shows handling but is in good shape overall. The covers are clean, with mild toning. Wear about the edges includes a 1.5" tear at the bottom of the spine. There is also curling at both forward corners, which affects some of the interior pages. Page 108 is marked in red ink (photo 7), and there are a few scattered marks elsewhere; the interior is otherwise very good.
Measures just over 10"X 13", 178 pages. Ships promptly & securely.
