Description

Cox was an American Presbyterian minister and a leading abolitionist. Having helped found the University of the City of New York, New York University, in 1832, he taught classes in theology and contributed the college's motto. This is an exceptional letter regarding the civil war, written just 2 months after the Emancipation Proclamation.
