A fascinating Sermon delivered by Pastor W. Clements of the Buxton Center Baptist Church, Buxton, Maine. Delivered less that 3 months after the sinking of the Battleship U.S.S.
    Maine
and 1 month after the outbreak of the Spanish-American War.
In the sermon Pastor Clements preaches about the centuries of atrocities by the Spanish government and the Church of Rome. He cites numerous incidents of Spanish oppression which date from the years of the Inquisition in the Netherlands, Spain’s conquest of Mexico and Peru, Spanish cruelties in Florida and Spain’s domination of Cuba. The Sermon reiterates the disaster in the harbor at Havana at the sinking of the battleship U.S.S.
    Maine
and the loss of 268 men. The Pastor rejoices in the fact that Admiral Dewy and his brave men achieved victory over Spanish tyranny.
