Description

Bob Dylan’s poetry and prose collection
Tarantula
wasn’t officially published until 1971, but that didn’t stop the underground and the Dylan freaks from making it available years earlier. The most famous (or infamous) unauthorized version of this book was assembled by Dylanologist A. J. Weberman. Weberman gave me this copy in 1970.
Weberman’s pirated edition of Dylan's book was copied directly from the galley proofs of the unreleased book and distributed around New York City. It contains
37 leaves- Weberman’s brilliant foreword followed by the gallery proofs p
rinted on rectos only, laid in an 8.5” x 11” standard manila envelope with the title and author rubber stamped on the front in black ink. This copy lacks the Dylan Liberation Front position paper.
The folder has some general wear, minor soiling, some creasing, masking tape on the outside and writing on the back (
my youthful handwritten inscription
). Inside the leaves are clean with very minor edge wear and a few small corner folds. A 1971
Newsweek
article about Weberman is added. The image of Weberman is from the article.
