Professor John H. Wigmore. Includes 200 illustrations. The Lawyers’ Cooperative
Publishing Co.: Rochester, NY, 1910. 501 pp. Large thick Red Hardcover Cloth; with author's name and title stamped in gold on front cover, and on spine. Extensive text by Osborn an expert on forged document identification - on such topics as hand-writing, ink, print, paper, methods of testing and much more; full-page and vignette photographic illustrations of examples, as well as double-sided "Stereographic Photo-Micrographs" illustration sheets (4" x 7 1/4") inserted into a pocket inside back cover. Also several newspaper clippings from 1925 Boston related to a case of a questioned entry in a Fly-Leaf Bible. Osborn (1858 - 1946) is known as the father of the examination of questioned documents. He worked on many important criminal cases incl. the Lindbergh kidnapping. Good tight condition; some rubbing to head and tail of spine; corner tips bumped; small red ex-lib. rubber stamp on front free endpaper (only ex-lib.markings found); former owner's bookplate on front pastedown.
