    Description

This is the first edition of the book "The Newsroom Dragonfly."  It tells the story of the first newspaper to own and fly a helicopter to cover stories and the crash that killed the son of the publisher.  It is profusely illustrated with photographs taken of and from the helicopter as it rushed around to cover stories.  It landed at the State Capitol, took photos of things like a war derelict ship at the coast near Coos Bay, Oregon, fires and other places and events.  It had a plexiglas bottom which allowed the cameraman to take photos from the air of happenings on the ground and water below him.  The helicopter crashed during a landing on December 21, 1947 and caught fire killing C. S. Jackson, the 33 year old Associate Publisher of The Oregon Journal.  The book has its original dust jacket which has some tears along the spine and at the top and bottom but is coplete and in reasonable condition.  The hardcover book is in excellent undamaged condition.  It is 11" by 8 & 1/2".
