"PANTOMIME - A PICTURE SHOW For The YOUNG ". It has 32 pages of Mischievous Clowns in Pantomime--Published in 1883 by George Routledge, London & New York!
Book is Complete, with somewhat edge worn Bright boards, with Nice Full Front Paste Down of the Clown/Mime pictured with a STRANGE Head peering out from behind the curtain, & Original FIRST PRINTING Rear Wallpaper Paste down, & full Cloth Spine. It is COMPLETE in 32 pages plus Original fly leaves.
There are the 8 FABULOUS CHROMO PLATES with skits & antics of our White-Face Mime -- clearly influenced by the
SCHOENHUT CIRCUS CLOWN / LAFAYETTE G.W. FOX's HUMPTY DUMPTY
Play portrayals -- with every text page having two tone illustrated vignettes, plus two Double Fold Fully Illustrated sections. FULL FOLIO, 10" x 12.5"
The book has a lovely 1883 Inscription in Pencil on the front fly.   It also has 2 problems with the pages.
The first is the Title/Copyright leaf that was stuck to the next page near the spine edge, leaving a 3" closed tear there just opposite the Title Page characters (Image 4) and leaving some spine edge rips on the next page (third from last image, showing the printer's colophon).
The second is at the rear of the book, where the rear fly leaf was partially stuck to the last printed page...now separated, but the fly leaf has some residual damage (next to last image, hard to see the rips in the flyleaf).
Just thought you should now the details.  Book remains a COMPLETE, RARE & WONDERFUL TITLE!!  Price reflects problems, or would be significantly higher!
